Open cage

The window was open, the cage was open, bird is away and daughter (12)
is crying the whole evening. Whe searched hours but the bird is away.
What shall i do ?
She wants a new australian parrot and a cavy (Meerschweinchen ??).

maybe put some food on the window sill, maybe it will come back? easy food and safety are hard to come by in the wild.... but freedom is hard to find in a cage.....
