Would this be ok for general home use? For future use with good amp and speakers?

Some general opinions on McIntosh Preamps (http://audioheritage.csdco.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=134&highlight=McIntosh+Preamps) courtesy of this sites' search engine .

There's a mention of a C28 in another thread that I'll let you find .

Certainly is the C28 for home use. I have had it too. You can buy update parts at Audio Classic in Vestal (New York) if you want that.
Combine with Mac poweramps.

I have one and I love it. IMHO it's an excellent preamp and combined with good tube amps and vintage Altecs it's an outstanding system.
