90980Hello,

I have recently refurbished a pair of water damaged 250s and I have located the ti tweeter (044ti) and the upper midrange (104h) drivers. Does anyone have guidance on finding some replacement crossovers from reputable builders or the the availability and source for parts to upgrade the 250s? Any other options or infromation would be appreciated.

Solen.ca sells crossover parts and also builds custom crossovers.

There's also this here : Thread: JBL L250 crossover upgrade to 250Ti specifications

If you search EBay someone in Idaho called loudspeakerchef (1057) is making these crossovers.

Has anyone installed the eBay crossovers? If so can you comment on the sound and build quality?

No. On observation the construction looks fine.

I bought a set from Speaker Chef for my L150A's. Had him modify them so I could passively bi-amp them and bypass the mid & tweeter pots. The build quality seems good, everything is arranged neatly and on a half inch board, but lots of hot snot glue. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the sound as I've yet to install them. Speakers are torn apart and drivers have been torn out for rebuild. Plus, a lot of modification will be needed to get them to go where the JBL put them. I guess earlier L150A's had the crossover board mounted low in the cabinet, like right near the input. Mine are located at the top. So I get to figure out how to fabricobble something to mount them and then redo the input board with dual inputs and switches for the tweeter and mid. Speaker Chef accommodated all of my requests though.

What's your budget?? They are complex networks so just the parts costs will not be insignificant. If you decide to build Charge Coupled networks it almost doubles that cost.

I would keep your original network and drivers and just do the install like the original upgrade kit where you replaced the drivers and crossover.

Good luck!

Rob :)
