Anyone out there in vintage JBL land happen to be able to share a copy of:
JBL " Pro Note" Vol. 1 Issue # 7 July 1973
JBL " Pro Note" Vol. 1 Issue # 6 Jan 1973

I really enjoy reading these... And I cannot find them anywhere! Or any other Pro Notes with the exception of what is archived in the library here. EarlK had them at some point if I recall correctly.

Thanks SO much,

mike

Rob :)

Rob, I don't see any PRO-NOTES" in your link.

( For the sake of clarity ), the JBL "PRO-NOTE" series is different than the Technical Notes series.

The "PRO-NOTE" was available only to dealers and really aimed at Installers ( IMHO ) .

Also, their publication ( throughout the 1970's ) wasn't yearly or continuous by any means ( for example, there's a 4 year long gap between "issue 7" & "No. 8" ).

Let's see if these uploads work.

Nope, way too big ( they are multi-page pdf's, scanned at 720 dpi ).

JBLPRO, I'll need an email address from you so that I can send you these files.

Please send me a PM that includes that address.

Hello Earl

If you can scan them as Jpegs they should be small enough to post.

I've found that 150 DPI is about right when scanning for web posting.

Here's Issue 6 at 150 dpi.

Okay, let's try 240 dpi;

Auto down-sampling performed by this sites hosting software seems to work well ( it reduces file size something like 4>1 ).

Issue 8 ( I went back to 200 dpi a couple of issues ago ) .

9051090511905129051390514

Interesting ( to me ) is that the scans from the glossy paper issues ( 1 - 7 ) have less over-contrast problems ( than the plain-paper publications of No.8 + No.9 ) .

Earl,

Thanks you for following up and taking the time to scan and post these PRO-NOTE publications for all of us to enjoy here in the forum.
Some really great nostalgia contained in these vintage internal/dealer publications. I love the cartoons that are included on the pages. And I want to know where I can get an official factory JBL SLIDE RULE! :)

Earl,
Thanks you for following up ,,,, mk

Thanks Earl for posting these.

You're welcome guys! I was happy that my WinXP era printer//scanner actually worked with Win10 ( even though it kept insisting there was a USB based connection problem ) ;)

Yeh, that JBL slide-rule is pretty cool. Anyone else notice there's some long-haired dude ( attending one of the conferences pictured ) that looks a lot like John Meyer did ( back in the day ).

:)

PS; Thanks Rob for the sticky status.

I used to have these, I wonder if this is the JBL slide rule? I sold them on eBay for $40.00.

Thank you Mr Earl K for sharing these documents. :hurray:
Now I have the answer to this old question: does a 2470 with a D16R2420 become a 2420?

Great stuff posted!
I used the 4550 bins, 4560s, double scoops, and JBL 2441 drivers on 60 and 90 degree horns into the 80s! I can't even imagine, carrying those around now.
Looking thru the notes, I used a lot of that old stuff. Those super long throw JBL horns sat in our warehouse waiting for an outdoor show that never came.
