Need to advise about vintage JBL woofers output.

Hello.


I have vintage JBL 15" woofers and considering of buying an amp for these woofers.


But I'm having hard to understanding the output of these woofers,


So, I'd like some advice on how much output wattage to buy.


Woofer list


JBL 2032H 500W
JBL 2225H 400W continuous program
JBL 2226H 600W AES continuous pink noise



1) JBL 2032H 500W


The detailed specifications of this woofer are not available now, but I saw the following word in some JBL official document.
2032H 15” woofer used in MR Series and 4655, 500W
But I don't know what 500W means here.


Are these values AES standard? Is it RMS standard? Or does it PEAK?




2) JBL 2225H 400W continuous program


I searched google for terms such as rms, program, and continuous power, but I rarely use the term "continuous program".


But by this continuous program, is it a program? Or does it mean continuous power?


If continuous program = RMS, is the 2225H 400W (RMS), 800W (Program), 1,200W (Peak) correct?




3) JBL 2226H 600W AES continuous pink noise


JBL 2226H 600W AES product below, it is difficult to accurately compare AES and RMS,


If it's a 600W AES, can I think of it as roughly 500W RMS?

What is your goal for these woofers, and what is the intended purpose of the system you are trying to build?

No this is wrong, and you risk damaging the 2225 from overpowering.

To make it simple for you, in actual use listening to music, the most important rating is probably the program material rating, which often corresponds to twice the RMS rating.

Averaging or so your different powers i think a 500 watts rms per channel amp would be ok to power your different drivers, in the present context.

Look at the Thiel/Small chart and find the power rating, Pe. JBL recommends in the Tech Note, "Danger Low Power", to have amplifiers with 6dB headroom...or Four times the power rating of the speaker.

I've rarely seen a VCG driver like the 2206/2226/2241 simply overpowered...but I have seen many, many, many over the decades with half burned up voice coils by amp clipping from under powered amps.

Doug Button, the Vented Gap Cooling designer, told me at an AES Show back when they were introduced that he used 3,000 watt amplifiers to test them.
