Hi all.

I have searched all over, but cant find accurate info.

I have aq. a set of 4406 S.M. wich didnt play well, tweeters didnt play at all.
Tweeter wire from post to coil was corroded away, so re-soldered, and new damping foam under the cap.
did no1 and hooked it up, while doing no2. wow it played well.
When connecting no2 speaker, alle bass dissapeared.
turned out that the black and red wire from the outside cabinet, to the x-over was reversed from one another.

I did not know at that time that these older JBL´s plays "negative" wired...
So when looking at the x-over, i saw that all wires were reversed, so changed that to "normal" rules.
as on the att. pics.
Found the x-over diagram, but am puzzled, since my tweeters have the + marked in the plastic, were there is a male connnector, and on the diagram, + is marked as female...
Can someone explain the right wiring, for the x- over, and terminals on the woofer and tweeter.
Thanks for any tips. Henrik.

Regardless of the polarity if the tweeter don't play when connected you have an open tweeter or open components in the crossover high pass section

All units repaird, and playing.

Question.

1. Are red and black connected as they should on x-over in

+ (Red) on C
- (Black) on I

2. When connecting a 1.5V battery to the outside post, +to+ and -to-
the woofer pulls inwards... is this right ?

I am puzzled about the diagram.

Wire color coding is confusing...
Yellow/black wire, has a female plug on it... on diagram, it goes to negative

BUT. on the pic of my tweeter, there is a + stamped in the plastic...

To me, it seems like everything is right.

You can also see the plus mark on the treble in the drawing.
Yellow should go to plus.

I think this is correct, assuming that C is Common, Solid Yellow and Green are positives... Right ?

This was strange. Can you see on the other side of the card if anyone has soldered there before?

You can also see on the back of the card which component red and black cable goes to. Use the wiring diagram.

I cannot se connections clearly on the print backside... looks like factory soldering, but hard to tell... and now I have resoldered, so both are the same.
