Hi guys, I ordered some new Radian Beryllium phragms and got them factory sealed by a european dealer, with I think, an oil-spot on the back. The attached measurment by Radian is fine. On this pricelevel I´m a liitle bit angry about this. Never had quality ptoblems with Radian in the past.

What´s your opinion with this?

By now you likely know more about beryllium than the rest of us.

Be is alkaline and so hates acids and is reactive to water. It oxidizes rapidly and the oxide layer minimizes it reaction to water so at least atmospheric moisture is of little concern.

In my world most oils are alkaline so I personally wouldn’t be too
concerned.

Since beryllium is formed at elevated temperatures and has a dull dry surface just about anything will make a stain like that.

I have seen pin holes and small tears in new beryllium diaphragms. Inspect them with a very bright light behind and if they are solid, I would put them to use.

All the best.
Barry.
