077 Diaphragm Options

My 077 diaphragms are bad. I would like to purchase genuine NOS ones, but I can't afford the nearly $500 for a pair on e-Bay right now. What are my options if I don't want the cheap Chinese ones?? Are some better than others, or are they all junk?? Are the ones made in India any better??

Has anybody used the Jansen/Zomax 2404-T diaphragms in their 077, 076, 075, 2404, 2405 etc.... ??

Although they are more than likely made in China or Taiwan, they look much different than the typical cheap Chinese aftermarket ones. From the pictures, they look like they are a little better constructed. Tell me if I am right or wrong!

I have not good experience with AF diaphragm for 2405 driver.

Little to no sound from one of them. Haven't the time recently to do an A/B comparison/swap and test the ohms. I would like to try this first....then maybe take them apart and inspect/clean. I also believe it could be the crossovers.

It’s could be the Lpads or a build up of grit or corrosion in the gap.

If you Google the are YouTubes on how to dismantle a 2505/077.

Tip. Remove the diffraction horn from the top of the driver. Do not remove the rear bolt ad it will damage the magnet.

Today I was able to work on the 077's. One tested @ 6.5 ohms while the other was 5.8 ohms. I disassembled and inspected each, but did not disturb the plugs. No visible damage, holes, wrinkles, or cracks. Gently brushed and blew out some white powdery material. Original blue diaphragms were intact and were clean. Solder points also looked good. Reassembled and gave a listen. Both sounded about the same.......clean, but not a lot of volume.

The low volume, is it normal?? What else can I do to to verify if these are working properly??

Those dcr readings are typical.

I would turn the Load up full and give it a few rotations and see what that does.

If that does not help the splice the cable to the uhf Load and wire the crossover directly,

This is a process of elimination,

Then try a different source to and check your amplifier settings such as a high filter left on.

I don’t think it’s your slot drivers if they are both low in level.
