Hallo All

I have tried searching around the forum to find answers to my question, but without luck, so here it goes.

Right now i have JBL 2215A (reconed) + PR15 as my bass section.
as High i have 2445J+93
and Ultra High 2404

But now i have the options to pick up a set of JBL 1500FE or a set of 2235H (reconed 2225)

So my question is will the 1500FE or the 2235H be better than my combo of 2215A and PR15?

The 1500FE costs twice as much as the 2235H i can get, i have also looked at the 2216ND but they are to expensive.

The middle road will be the 2265HPL or maybe the 2255HPL, but i think the 2255HPL is a Neodymium replacement for the 2226H?
i don't now what the 2265HPL replace, but have read good things about it.

i hope someone can help me answer my questions before i use all my hard earned money on something there will not work.

just on a side note i will build new speaker cabinets something like 4348/4338 if i will get one of the above woofers to replace my 2215A+PR15 combo.

You are going to have to run them in a box program to see which is best in the box size you can live with.

First, the PR15 is functionally the same as using a port. The primary difference is that the use of a PR does not require cabinet depth for a longer vent tube that is sometimes needed and there is no port turbulence noise. So in short, the LE15A/2215 in a ported cabinet versus a 2235H in a ported cabinet, or a 1500Fe in a ported cabinet is what you are considering.

I have used multiple LE15As and 2235Hs in several systems. The 2235H have a slightly more extended low end and slighting better upper range extension. I think the 2235H is a modest upgrade.

I have not heard the 1500Fe, but have heard the 1501Fe and thought is was vastly superior to either the LE15A or the 2235H.

Hallo

Thanks for the replies.

ROB: unfortunately i don't have the money to do that, i wish i had that will be the optimal solution :D, regarding the box size then I have room for a quit big box :D

Mr. Widget: So you more or less think it is waste of money to upgrade from the 2215A/LE15A to a 2235H?
and the only upgrade the will make sense is to bey the 1500FE?

I have only read good things about the 1501FE, but is there not a large drifend on the data, when we compare the 1501FE vs 1500FE?

just to throw it in, what about the 2216ND? will that be the upgrade to go after, in denmark they are quite expensive, but maeby worth it??

You don't need money this is a free box program that come preloaded with lots of drivers. You can also enter new ones. It has the 2235 and Le15 preloaded not sure if you can do the passive radiator. You can get almost and extra half octave lower with a 2235. The Le 15 is essentially a "40Hz woofer" especially with it's limited X-Max Try both in 5 cubic ft tuned to 30 Hz see what the differences are. Also change box sizes.

If you can swing it, I would go with the 2216ND over all of the others.

The 2235H is an upgrade, but I wouldn't spend the time and money on it as the performance is only marginally improved, the foam rots, the reconed version you get may not be perfect... many reasons I wouldn't go that route.

In addition there is a large database of JBL PRO drivers here. (http://www.cieri.net/Documenti/JBL/Thiele-Small/jbl-pro.htm)
