Hello all.
An ad on Kijiji claims a JBL Professional 18" driver named 2226!
Anybody saw this woofer before? Is it a bona-fide JBL driver or a chinese knock-off? It does not look anything like JBL to me.

Thanks for any insight.

I remember seeing models like these at flea markets in the 1990's geared to the car audio crowd, they were cheap $45 each new in the shipping box made in China probably knock off as for 2226 is a pro model number 15"

Thanks! That's what I thought, the picture is not close enough to really confirm 2226 although it looks very much like it, and H/J to boot... which one is it?

Label looks genuine for the non-initiated though. It's not even a repurposed label from a real 2226, it's made like that.

With JBL's reputation I'm sure the bootleggers make big money on the unsuspecting public
Just looking at the label make no sense when you know what 2226 looks like, and to add the h and j to the label something is shady to me

When I said "it looks very much like it" I meant the number 2226 on the label, not the actual speaker. I know exactly what a 2226 looks like.

It's quite amazing these people can get away with this, doing that in broad daylight without hiding...

Was it created in a Lab or from a wet market? Both?
