The music sales website CD Baby closed its store in March. The site now reads:

"Where's the CD Baby Store?

CD Baby retired our music store in March of 2020 in order to place our focus entirely on the tools and services that are most meaningful to musicians today and tomorrow."

Sign of the times. They were my go-to for the unusual and under the radar stuff I like. This coming after the MySpace loss of fifty million artists' songs being archived there (only half a million have been recovered, about one percent; The Internet Archive having found the 2009-2010 stash, or some of it) is really starting to get me down.

I have gotten hard to find stuff from them as well. If you have not heard of it checkout Bandcamp. Mostly current but it's fun to browse through. I have found lots of good music there.

I came to them recently, a few years ago. The Irish star Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh releases on it and I am one of her top American fans.

Unrelated, I hope Soundcloud holds on. Of the streaming services they are the big dog for having a bazilllion bands, but can't seem to sell paid subscriptions and are always broke. Unsure how MySpace is doing with music since the server migration loss. When Facebook overwhelmed MySpace it was musicians who became its main clients. Spotify, Tidal and the rest blatantly copied Rhapsody's software and format and paid them nothing for it. Rhapsody holds on as Napster these days (they own the bones of Napster since 2011 and use the name for its international recognition). Tough times made worse by the virus.
