I recently purchased a pair of Altec 416-16c woofers to mate with a pair of 515b horns with 806(?) drivers. My listening room is relatively small, any recommendations on cabinet size? Thanks in advance.

Greetings from the Peoples Republic of Washington State,

Go to the library section of this site, and you will find an Altec enclosure manual. You'll find some Ideas therein. The 416 likes 5 to 7 cu. ft. Many years ago, I had a dual 416 system in an 11 ft. box, tuned to 25 Hz, It worked very well.

5 ft3 is the bare minimum

Keep on Listening

Thanks, it will need to be at least 25 inches wide and 24 inches deep to accommodate the horn dimensions, so 5 cuft is not an issue.

You could always consider selling those in favor of some 12" 414 which may overall be a more suitable scale for you situation.

+1, The Valencia 846b uses around this cabinet size. A lot of JBL woofers like this size also so it will be a pretty versatile cabinet size.

How small is small for the room? Also what crossover do you plan on using?

Thanks,
Scott
