Well i just refoamed the woofers on soem jbl l26.

I used the 30hx method.

One seems good, not sure about the other.

On the good one...werever i press on the cone it is silent...no rubbing at all.

On the other, if i press in the very centre or on one side it is ok, no running.
But if i press on the other side or just off centre on that side then there is rubbing (1cm off centre).

Should there be no running wherever i press on the ocne?

OK?
Refoam?
Can i loosen one side and reglue?

Thanks for any advice

Does it count as rubbing if one has to push slightly off centre to get it to rub?
It seemed fien when glueing, but after 2 hours i am not so sure now.

As i said, the other has no rubbinng whatsoever.

If they don't rub with a 30hz tone then I would think you are good to go.

Applying un-even ( off-center ) pressure to a cone sitting within a tight gap ( like most JBL drivers ) is a road to creating a "false-positive" .

If you are worried about it, buy a USB mic ( UMIK-1 from miniDSP ) download REW ( free software ) and then run some distortion tests .

or, you could wire the cabs back up, lay them on their backs (don't even need to screw the drivers in) , give them some music signal and listen ....

Hello Philv

You should be fine as long as the 30hz is OK. But I once refoamed a pair of LE-14a's that were fine on the test tone but were also off a bit. When I put it in the cabinet and did a sweep I would get a buzz. All I did is flip it over buzz side down and the offset from gravity was enough and it worked fine. So if you know which side try mounting the buzz side down if you have the same issue I did. It worked for me beats redoing them!

I unglued from tne frane and tnen redid it.
i got lucky.....no rubbing anywhere whatsoever.

sounds excellent.
very pleased.

The problem i had with rhe 30hz nethod was i wasn’t sure what noise i shoul or should not hear.
At one point i was hearing a buzzing that turned out to be the driver resobating with the table i was working on.

Anyway, they play great with no issues.

Thanks again for tne replies.
