I Need Some Advice on a 4-way System

I'm thinking of building a 4-way and I need some advice. I am going to use 2x2226J drivers up to 200-300hz. Above that I want to use either a single 12" 2206H or a 10" 2123H up to 1000-1200hz. This is just going to be my home party system. I'm looking for something with a lot of punch, kind of like a shotgun blast.

There are probably better drivers to use but I have these already, and it is going to have an active crossover.

The 2206 is a pretty good large format midrange driver but a snare drum on a 2123 will crack the enamel on your teeth!

No question in my book, 2123’s and this coming from a guy that owns 4350’s.

I am a big 2123 fan as well I have a fun set-up using 2235 subs E145's 2123's and 2435's on waveguides. You can beat yourself to death with it and it sounds great at lower levels as well.

I only have a 2123 and a 2206. It sounds like a 2123 does what I like.

Interesting article, what do you think of an enclosure for a 2123 built out of a sonotube, stuffed with fiberglass?

Great idea and did it myself for my first 4 way

Strong, light and rigid. Another benefit is you can get the mid cone hole close to the horn if that is your plan.

I calculated the volume and depth with Bassbox

I cut the rear on an angle to reduce direct reflections with a hack sawed and glued on a mdf panel

The baffle end l routered a circle the diameter of the tube cut into the baffle and glued in the sonotube with pva glue

I like the idea of using a sonotube, but I think I'll just cut the back flat. I think it would be difficult to make a plug for a cylinder cut at an angle.

I just threw out an old 10" water softener tank, a slice of it would of worked good for an enclosure.
