Anyone using a 50s/60s stereo console. After considering a living room area tv I decided against it
Having 1 tv is enough in a small apartment.
I wondered about the now vacant space, an thought credenza
mid century an I saw a neat tidy stereo cabinet equipped w/
vintage gear.

Are these still popular. They seem spendy on the auction site,
what are they how do the function. I have an 70" void I'd like
to decorate.

A member here made a pretty nice one a couple years ago. I missed the sale by a couple days.

refurbished is more like it, he tore out the phono, for tisk task.
thats what i'm after however, he has reconditioned it very nicely.

id like to have seen his write up.

I'm building my second stereo around tube equipment, and i don't see how i can fit it all in the older cabinets
where its got tuner and turntables predominately, with out adding a second tier.

i then see the resemblance w/ the era credenza's and sideboards. maybe i can use on of them and modify it to incorporate my equipment and a set of speakers. i do enjoy the console with its own speakers. i guess if the credenza is long enough, i could add them.

I too wanted to hide all the gear in a classic console cabinet. Never found one that could hold 3 amps and assorted perifs , plus have space for a TT topside and AIRFLOW.

came upon a semi-modern cabinet at GW for $5. Oak solids with oak veneer. Lots of room and tambour doors to the left and smoked glass to the right. I had 70 inches to work with also.

In pic it's on the right side between Ohm speakers. Worked out well for me.

Nicely applied.

not to blow this gentlemen up... he seems to be making vintage consoles, however his website page does not seem to be up and running at the moment...
