Thanks,
Iam about on the verge on finishing cabinets and I want to veneer. I looked at straight aluminum edges along with a feeler gauge to check straight edges of the 4315s I dont have $80.00 to spend for a aluminum 3/8x24 straight edge.

I saw just a fresh cut piece of aluminum 12x2x1 will this do,
Thanks

This edge has a tolerance of .07. Is this reasonable for me.

There are scores of items that can function as a straight edge and they needn't be expensive. You didn't bother to state how long of an edge you need. But even a metal yard stick or stock items at Home
Depot or Lowes will do. Even a piece of milled hardwood would suffice, no? If you read the construction threads here, you may have noticed the creative people have even bought sheets of 4x8 plywood and ripped them to create fences or 'straight edges'.

You can get a 2ft steel ruler at Walmart for less than $10

Also, a relatively inexpensive aluminum level about 2 to 3 feet long is usually inexpensive and can then be used to be sure your turntable, speakers, pictures, etc. are level too.

Its to check the flushness before veneer, especially around edges. My mdf needs a tool. I have a level but it has a high spot. I need a straight edge least 1/4 thick not just a ruler,

Found a man online that makes them with guages. I sent a email less the $20.00
Thats his work.
