Hello All,
I've recently come across an interesting set of speakers and I'm keen to find out a bit more about them.
They are 2 fairly large speaker cabinets labeled as MODEL SS-25, "MADE IN USA FOR EASTMAN KODAK CO., ROCHESTER, NY BY ALTEC LANSING CORP., HOLLYWOOD, CALIF."
They are currently "wasting" away in an attic here in Rochester, and when I discovered them I was immediately excited; knowing that Altec didn't exactly make junk! I don't believe they have been used in many years.
I have been able to find very little information on them, and I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on them. It is very likely that they are theater speakers, and the size would indicate that they have 15" speakers in them. I haven't been able to look at them again since snapping these pictures, so unfortunately I don't know much more.
What era would you reckon, and what speakers are likely to be inside? Any thoughts on quality of reproduction and potential value? Is it rare or odd that Eastman Kodak would have commissioned these speakers?, and I'm curious in what capacity Kodak would have sold these. Perhaps I can find an old Kodak catalog if I know the right era to start looking.
It's possible that I may be able to acquire these speakers, but would love to learn a bit more first.
Thanks in advance!
