Hi friends,

I've got a JBL SE408S power amplifier that I bought from a European seller, who's used it until recently.
As you know, it's 220-250volt in Europe, while it's 110-125volt here in US.
And this unit is currently fitted with a 1-amp slo-blo fuse.
The manual says a 2-amp slo-blo fuse should be used for operation from 110-120 volt on this unit.
I've found the 2-amp slo-blo with 250V, but not one with 110 or 120V.

So, this is my question:
Can I use this 2-amp fuse with 250V for this vintage SE408S?
Googling the internet, I see 250V fuse can be used with either 110V equipment or 220V equipment.
I want to double check with you.

Thanks for your feedback and comment.

Hi,

From the JBL service manual it is written:

http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/Vintage%20JBL-UREI%20Electronics/JBL-SE400S_SE408S.pdf

as shown on the attached figure

but for 240V it has to be 2A slo-blo for AC OUT-LETS ( 4A for 120V) regards ivica

Sure, but I don't think that was in question, noting that someone had appropriately
done this (1A fuse for 250V operation) according to post 1.

Perhaps:
"I've found the 2-amp slo-blo with 250V, but not one with 110 or 120V."

could have been written more clearly as:

"I've found the 2-amp slo-blo with 250V rating, but not one with 110 or 120V."

Please take a look at the attached pic. That will clear the confusion, I hope.
You see the notice "Replace with 2 amp slo blo fuse" right beside the power socket.
I wonder if the current fuse should be replaced with 2 amp slo blo fuse?

If unmodified (still wired for 110/120VAC use) I would use what is specified.

If the unit was modified for 200+VAC operation, you would want to rectify
(not in the electrical sense) that issue first.

If it was run with a step-down transformer, substituting a 1A for the 2A fuse
was unnecessary.

That's a very good point, grumpy! :applaud:Thanks a lot.
