Does anyone know how to do a factory reset of the JBL DSC260 please?
I have found reference to holding down the #5 and #6 and Recall keys on power up, but although it does open normally hidden Test Procedure Menus, and a way of Deleting everything on it, it has no clues on how to bring back all the Factory Settings.

Any help would be immensely appreciated.

In the event that a reset is required, the DriveRack™ 260 offers you the option of performing a "Soft" or "Hard" reset.
The Soft Reset resets all operating parameters except user programs. The Hard Reset Procedure will reset all program-
mable information back to the factory defaults.
All Power-Up Functions require a button(s) to be pressed and held as the unit power is turned on.

That's what got me into this mess…. :(
I dumped all, and got left with an empty memory.
From wot I've found in the last 10 minutes, is I may need to do a firmware upgrade, but because of the age of the unit, it needs to be done via the rs-232 port, which can only be done via a PC, and all I have are Macs, and one PC laptop, that has only usb ports.
I guess I fluffed it! :(

usb to serial cables are pretty common.

isn't this what you want ?

Which button?
Where did you see that? [It's not mentioned in the Manual I have or is it?]
That's exactly what I want…..

So far, I'm just getting really confused by it all.

I do have a usb to rs232 cable but it's male, and needs to be female.
I also then made a fm to fm rs232, and hooked it up, but the 'other' pc I have here is Win 7, and the firmware only works ONLY with 98.Now I'm trying to find an old 98 installer. God knows where THAT is, so I'm trying to d/l a copy now.

I'll know how I go hopefully by the end of the day.

might be able to install under win7 with a Win98 'compatibility mode' and have the firmware updater code run...

Thanx heaps, but sadly, still get the same non-compatability alert….. :(
Must be something missing on this PC in the way of a driver. Not that I remember much about PC's anymore.
See wot happens when I install a real 98 OS on another partition.

Unfortunately Tom, all those are for the Driverack, and don't work for the JBL. :(

Win98?? Can you even DO anything with Win98 these days??
I thought Win-XP was the least of these any more.

It seems to be the only Windows OS ['cept for Win 3.x] that you can get the JBL DSC260 Firmware to work Heather. :(

Guess you're right - the manual seems to be dated 1997!
