I recently purchased on ebay to match my other drivers units that cosmetically look like :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-2118H-8-Inch-Low-Frequency-Midrange-8-Speaker-8-Ohm-200-Watt-DCR-5-5-610-/191240455869?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Speakers_Monitors&hash=item2c86d1c6bd
However it seems that the reconed drivers have a completely different treatment to the cone :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-2118H-MIDRANGE-8-SPEAKER-200-WATTS-GENUINE-JBL-CONEKIT-CLEAN-A-TJ-811-/281344751240?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Speakers_Monitors&hash=item4181743688
The claim for the seller is the later is a genuine kit from JBL. This concerns me because I have a damaged driver I would like to recone and visually they are not the same.
It appears that a surface treatment was added to later models. Anyone have the inside scoop on this so I understand how I might want to repair?
