Hello, wondering if anyone knows if a 2121 recone kit will make a 2120 transducer into a 2121. I have a pair of 2120's (rare extended range 10" transducer). Is this the same speaker with different cone, etc.? I'm building something like a 4343 monitor and this extended range 2120 seem a bit harsh so far. You think the 2121 is better suited? I noticed it has significantly different characteristics to the 2120 (see pic). Thoughts? Thanks in advance. Here is the 2120 specs: http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/2120.pdf

Hi,

If You compare other parameters You can see that

2120 B=1.02T, BL=10,3N/A, LE=0.4mH
2121 B=1.00T, BL=12.7N/A, LE=0.9mH

So it seems to me that using 2121 recone kit with 2120 basket You will get 2121 driver. It seems to me that
2121 has more wires in the gap ( about 25%) and more wounds too ( about 50% more,as its LE is 2.25 larger that 2120), but I can NOT to confirm You that all of my expectations are correct.
You can ask our member EDGEWOUND
