Hii!
I have 2 2242 that I have been thinking of building something fun of. I see JBL recomends highest crossing 1000hz. How about 2242 in MLTL or BR to about 630hz and then 2352/2447 and 2405 or 2404 on top? (i also have 2206s and 2381-horns and som type of small tratrix-horns if it`s not a good idea)

Is the 2242 best intended for sub/bass use or could this work?
Any thougths about MLTL or BR för 2242?

For now I have lsr32 and sub 1500 that sound very nice but I want to try to build something on my own. I would like a very dynamic system with that live sound.

2242's stop sounding decent about 250Hz.

Even though JBL says maximum recommended crossover at 1kHz, look at how they use them in their own engineered systems. I am pretty sure you will never ever see them (JBL) use any 18" driver anywhere near that hi.

Put the 2206 in there and you will have something with real potential.

All the best,
Barry.

Hi!

Youre right. This was an idea I got yesterday. The thing that JBL them self never uses it that high is enough. We skip that idea and go for the 2206:)

Any thougths about MLTL or BR för 2242?

2242 + 2206 + 2397 + 2404 could be nice :D

Are you asking about transmission line versus bass reflex?

Mass Loaded Transmission Line. Yes:) The sims seems nicer than the BR.

I got to sims made for me on the 2242.

MLTL (made by a nice fellow here)

VS BR (mabye to low tuning, 25-30 would be better i guess)

What`s the catch? Is there any? The MLTL seems much better:applaud:

I built a pair transmission lines a quarter of a century ago using a Kef 139 (oval race track) and liked them. Less "boomy" than a bass reflex, and allowing to select a narrow resonance band. Be prepared to design a tall cabinet. Very tall.
