I think I have this right. The 2450 is the successor to the 2446 in body shape and type of magnet. I read on the Data Sheets that the 2450 has an extended HF capability but the Data Sheets don't really talk about any other "real" advances over the previous body type. Is newer really better here? I am using a 2405 also, so the extended HF isn't very important to me, but other things like a much more smooth response curve, better lower end capability or other points might cause me to spend 2X the money for the newer model.

For those in the know, please share your experiences.

Thanks,
Paul

Aside from the 2450 weighing 20 pounds less than the 2446 they are the same where it counts for sound. Same phase plug and diaphragm and the same frequency response.

I think the 2450 has it all over the 2446 in the looks cool department though.

Barry.

Thank you Barry! I appreciate the information but unless there is a more compelling reason, I'll go with the brand new 2446's at half the price.

hi, i have hear them both on 2380 and 18 inch with BSS x-over and 2 Bryston BSS 4. The 2446 is the Pure and Raw Jbl Sound.Loud,clear,dynamic,live. The 2450 sounds to me more softer,HiFi like. My Friend see it exact otherwise. So I think itīs a Question of Taste. As I allways say"Hearing is like Tasting"
