MDF or HDF finishes

I'd like to get a very slight pebble texture in pretty flat black. I've looked at Duratex and think it might be a bit more texture than I want.
I actually like the walls in my house which have a light pebble texture. I do have a couple regular spray guns, but not a texture gun/hopper. I guess that leaves rollers.

Anyone had success with eggshell finishes?
Anyone care to recommend a subtle texture finish paint etc. ?

Here is what I use. I apply it with a 6 inch texture roller. It covers well.

The finish is semi-gloss with a slight texture. If you slightly dilute the paint and use a tight nap roller the end finish flattens out yet still covers well. You can sand and touch-up in 30 minutes after applying.

Where from?
I googled and although I can find some reference the black color eludes me.....

There is also a black Zolatone that will spray through a regular gun. It gives a nice satin pebble texture.

Pebble finish, what about using hammertone paint. Its what Im going to use on the cabinet im building. Its spray paint so cost will be higher. But let face it, this isnt a cost oriented hobby. I just figured that its texture is pebble like. But its gloss though so I guess it wouldnt work.

I've used Hammerite or Hammertone on a few projects the largest of which was my movie projector

It has a nice effect but it's a real bugger to use.
The spray cans didn't work very well for me. The roll on version works pretty slick if you have a surface that you can keep horizontal until it kicks. The re-coat time is weeks.

Progress

Got the Magnaclaw the other day. Boy do they know how to pack paint.
Also picked up a big chunk of African Padouk

http://www.edensaw.com/MainSite/Store1/StoreProducts/ProductList/1395

enough to do both fronts. It's about 1-3/4" thick.

Got slightly side tracked....

I didn't have a saw to do accurate 90° crosscuts the length required, so I found an old Delta 16" Radial Arm Saw on CL and have to rebuild it first.

Got one JBL reconed as a 2235 and the other is being reconed.

Progress inches along

:)
