JBL L300 Recone Question

but no one addressed as to what exactly the problem was.

In short, someone reconed a pair of 136's, apparently using non-JBL parts.

Resale value aside (which likely only a JBL person with experience spotting aftermarket cones would be able to tell the difference), is there an audible difference? What exactly is wrong with the drivers in the above thread?

Unless I am missing something it's self explanatory. The OP wanted JBL kits and got aftermarket. The short story is there is no guarantee the reconed drivers will work in that system. It's a crap shoot using aftermarket kits unless they guarantee both the T/S parameters and frequency response are the same as the original recone kit.
