Lately, I have seen numerous pairs on the internet and ePay with the front baffle treated as so:

(I don't know how to just take one of the pictures to show the point of my inquiry)
Anyway, note the preeminent groove, or channel if you prefer, where the front baffle meets the side and top panels.
I have a pair of late L100s and the front baffle is smooth all the way out to the edges, same as the L96.............along with the damn hair line, extremely fine cracks in the paint that occur over the decades there, at that joint!.............BUT, my pair has a much lower serial number?
Still close enough to these in the "auction" though (# starting with "2"xxxxx and followed with the "A" and from the "twist lock" speaker wire terminal "era". Two different cabinet suppliers? Assembly lines?
Or am I missing something obvious here?
