Hi everyone,
in the next few months, I am likely to start functionally restoring a pair of HK Citation 16As
they are the ones traded for a while back...
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?31934-A-pair-of-H-K-Citation-16As-needing-work-and-untested&highlight=citation
one is almost operational -- sounding OK at very, very low levels, but getting wonky with a little juice going -- indicitative methinks of failing capacitors...
the other is missing a fuse cap, and i haven't gotten to finding another to replace it...
(the other (semi-working) unit is a non-fused unit -- any benefit to retro-fitting a fuse assembly into the one without it already?)
anyhow, i've been reading a fair amount online about these amplifiers and what folks are doing to upgrade, etc...
installing new electrolytics is a must for both IMHO, but beyond that....
using hexfred diodes, replacing the ceramic caps with metal film or poly ones, etc
any thoughts from the membership here on a good (and cost effective) path to pursue?
