If anyone has a tip on the 2405H pre-installation cleaning of the voice coil and diaphragm, I would appreciate it.

I decided to try do the diaphragm replacements myself (hope the JBL diaphragms are in spec). After reading as many post as I could find on the subject, I'm pretty confident that I will be able to a decent job of cleaning out the gap. But, I did not come across anything about cleaning off the new voice coil and diaphragm. They come from JBL in this Styrofoam packing and because of this, they are full of Styrofoam dust. I don't want to touch the coils or the diaphragms.
Does anyone have any advice as to how to delicately clean these guys off before I install them?

Thanks,
Steve

They are delicate but not untouchable. If you have an old one you dont care about, handle it a bit and get comfortable before you work with your new ones. Use a damp Qtip to clean what you can't blow it off.

I keep a few nice ( artist ) soft paint brushes to clean / dust off the diaphrams. Back in the day cigarette smoke filled the air in clubs and sometimes it accelerated the growth of sticky dust bunnys inside the slots and bullets.

We would use 409 and the brushes to clean them if it was severe. Removing and replacing the dia's isn't too hard just remember to check the terminal mounting hardware and make sure it's tight. The fiber washers used to shrink and it would cause intermittent operation.
