I purchased a pair of JBL 2426 (part of a JBL 4560 that I'm restoring) and I want to know from Lansing Heritage people an opinion about these drivers because in Italy "someone" says that they are a bad choice, I have no comparison with other drivers (JBL or other).
Thanks for your answers
Giuseppe

Frankly who cares?? It's a 1" general purpose compression driver. Been in manufacture for about 30 years and is still current. Have a listen and make up your own mind. I have used them and they can sound damn good on a decent horn with a good crossover. Pretty much like any other 1" titanium driver out there. Unlike most of the newer crop of 1" drivers you can safely use them down to 800Hz if you want. I use mine at 1.2K and 1.5K. I have a pair in my 4344's and they sound just fine.

Well, I have four of those (2426J) and they're OK.
Try them and see if you like them. I guess it will depend also on what horn you're using them.
They are titanium diaphragms, maybe you could change them later for aluminum if you like the sound better.

Honestly I couldn't tell you more than that because I never compared them with other drivers.

Very good drivers but skip trying to get >10k out of them. If you have young or good ears, you'll want a supertweeter.

I don't agree with that. I would push that out to 16-16.5kHz. And I like super tweeters too.

GiuseppeI suppose it could be location dependent...

But seriously, the time to tell you they are a bad choice is BEFORE you make a purchase. After the fact, they'll work just fine. ;)

(We're all patiently waiting for the Be diaphragms to come to market)

I'm not sure I'd want to listen to them in a 4560 typical application (on a 2345 horn inserted into the cab)
unless it were outdoors and loudness mattered more than other considerations. I like them fine in a 4430
arrangement. Not the "ultimate" but pretty darn good (still have to break out some precious [to me] 2421s :o: )

I've not liked them as much when they're run up high as when they're let to roll off naturally above 10k, but to each their own.

I'll be looking for a charge-coupled crossover to go with them for the 4430 surround system.
