OK,

I think (now) old Sansui`s are the best you can get.
Do you know T+A ?
It`s the best of electronic you can get for (mid) money
in Germany. Very, very good !!
I doen`have the money to buy this.
3 years ago i was there to call for a job in their factory.
I`ve seen (?) an old Sansui preamplifier from the Chef
was there to restore, so it must be good.
So, what`s with Sansui ?? and other like Hitachi, Akai
and so on ??

Best Regards
Eckhard

Sansui has long since gone down the tubes. The name was sold and resurfaced. I always loved thier tuners and a couple of thier amps. The circuitry on these in the late 70s early 80s stuff is hard to find parts for and to work on. There are some real Sansui diehards on the yahoo boards that lurk there all the time and are a wealth of knowledge. Here's a link to the site

Memories! It was 1972, and my father got a sansui eight reciever, and a pair of AR3a,s! It rocked! I had that little 50wpc reciever well into the 80,s and I loved it!

Then one day it broke, and I had it fixed, it lasted for awhile, but the same thing started to keep breaking, and one day the tech told me it could no longer be fixed!

In its last years it pushed a pair of JBL 4312,s and even though it wasnt much power it rocked!

Thanks mike.
Audiobeer, whatyou mean is "Tandberg",
must be danish, norwegian or so.
Think T+A doesn`t sell to USA.

Yes audiobeer, there are other places in this small world.
Figge, T+A (Theorie + Anwendung) is a small factory nearby
(15 km).
They make very fine audio in the midprice segment.
They win the most tests in stereoliterature (?).
You can get a full stereo about 5-7000 Dollars.
Do you know the "Bauhausstil" ?

Don McR. and some others occassionally post there. Their speaker forum has some nice folks on there, but not usually much in-depth technical discussion.
Still an OK forum with a pretty decent tone overall.

There are several techs that belong to AK. I just had my Sansui AU-7900 rebuilt/modded by "echowars" and it sounds great.

He is not the only tech onboard AK.

You also asked about Hitachi. I have a pair of HMA-8500 MKII's and they are awesome!! I just took them out of service. Each were bridged into an L100 with a Yamaha preamp. The sound was phenominal. They go for around $200 all the time on eBay and will outperform numerous Yamaha, SAE, Pioneer, etc. amps.

This seller currently has a Sansui 5000 and an HK430 up for grabs. The price looks right anyway.
