The buyer or the price? :)

Those "kabuki" boxes seem to have a fairly large fan base;
no accounting for rationality when that happens.

That particular Pioneer has always captivated me... I'd love to give a pair a listen at some point. I have been told by those I trust that they sound much like they look, but I am still intrigued by them.

I have heard them. Up to a certain level they sound OK. Over that, they sound :crying:. And the JBL' has just start singing.:bouncy:

Interesting analogy Widget. How do you think they look?

Allan. :)They look like somebody tried to pack as much speaker as possible into a given size box.... practically bursting at the seams! The acoustics and physics of sound were not much of a consideration.

I am not sure why I have a soft spot for them... :)

I knew a guy in college who had a pair, while I had my L100s. Everyone was impressed with the size of his package, but everyone preferred the way I could work mine right up the limit. Especially the ladies. Elaine, Pam, Rene, Jackie, Kathy, Cheyenne, and Edie, where are you now?

They were the biggest and baddest speakers Pioneer made at the time..the were the TOTL listed in my 1969 Lafayette radio catalog...!
