I am having a 8 cu utility cab made for the 2245 I posted about and intend to drive it with one of my DC300A's bridged. As far as the crossover I have a 5233 with a 1200 hz card.

The questions:
What crossover freq would you suggest with a 2245 and L200/077 crossed with N8000's.

What would be needed to modify the 1200 hz card lower?

Is the 5233 suitable or suggested for this purpose if the card is modified?

Thanks

What woofers are in there the 2216 or 2231's?? You have foam surrounds or cloth on the woofers?? You would need to change the component values in the cards, not all that hard to do. I just hope the 12db or 18db slope rates are steep enough. Check the 5235 manual as well for part values for the cards. You can do 12db 50/70/100hz or 18db 80/100 from the values in the manuals.

In any case It certainly can't hurt to try. I don't think you are going to be able to tell what the best crossover frequency is until you actually try to get it all working. Can't predict what's best from the get go. To many variables with room size and placement issues.

It might be easier to try a 24db analog crossover like the Ashly or JBL M552 they are not card based and you can adjust the frequency on the fly. A lot easier to work with than a card based unit.

Hi,

You could take a look at the Reckhorn B1. Cheap and versatile 24dB crossover. It also incorporates a possibility to implement a contour frequency to better adjust the response to your room or just to your taste.

Good luck, there's nothing like the roar of an 18" :)
