I picked up a pair of these on fleabay :bouncy: and want to try them with some 2226h woofers. I found the 2452h-sl 2-way thread on here with the passive compensation network that was developed. Can I just add a passive 12Db/octive highpass filter in front of that or do I need to go active?

what horn are you using?

Yup. That's a vital question. You'll need to find a horn that goes low. Probably down to 500Hz, which is where it will meet with the 2226. Can the 2226 go higher, up to 800Hz? Not sure.

Also, you will need to match the woofer's and the 2452's sensitivity, which are 12db apart.

Some wood horns go down to 500Hz. So does the 2360 as well as the 2350. What do you have in mind?

I'll be using a PT-F95HF if I can get away with a passive filter. If I go active I'll likely use the PT-H95HF. I'm currently crossing the 2226h to 2426J/2344 at 1100 and bringing in a 2404 at 8000. I like that combo but it gets a little harsh pushed hard (stupid loud).

Zilch's network will work fine on the PT-F95
The 4" SL drivers are easy to deal with and require very few eq points, especially on this horn.
You should be able to get a good result in the 1100khz-20khz range.

Why would you choose the square version for an active setup?

Here is the active EQ I use in my 2452H-SL / PT-F95 setup:
- hishelv +12dB @ 8280Hz, 12dB/oct
- PEQ -5dB @ 1500Hz, Q=1

In the 2452H-SL on PT Waveguides thread Zilch said he thought the square one was the best sounding but required delay on the woofer for time alignment due to its depth. I'm using 2 Crown XTI amplifiers for subs/mains, if I decide on active I will buy a third. They have DSP delay/crossovers/eq so that would not be a problem. However if I can just put a passive 1100 Hz high pass filter in front of what came out of the 2-way thread it would be cheaper and easier. I just don't know enough about crossover design to know if that will work or cause other problems. Obviously I would also have to add an L pad too.
