The e140 is a bass guitar speaker. Not much output below 50Hz and therefore not too good for hifi. Your friend should consider a 2235 or 2245, maybe even a 2240. Both can be cut 800Hz to a JBL 2397), or 500Hz to JBL 2350.
Basically, what you friend needs to build is a big bass cabinet and put the midhorn and tweeter on top.

As for crossover, perhaps a basic 3 channel active crossover, feeding a 20wpc amp for the 077, and 20wpc amp for the 2440, and 200wpc amp for the bass driver.

How big and how loud does your friend wants to play his music?

He had 4628b for 2 years and L300 for one year, but he transfered both of them.
He don't care much of bass,he doesn't like complex active crossover, this is his first DIY
Could you show me any similar projects on this forum?I used forum search function, but can not find:banghead:
Thank you.

No problem Martin, this what forums are for and I got answers to many questions from other members so far. By the way, I am by no mean an expert so take my advices with a grain of salt...

The 2397 would be a good choice if used with a tweeter. Maybe your friend could also try searching for some TH4001 clones (there are some made in Hong Kong I think, beautiful but pricey). These would be easier to cross lower (650Hz) and could even be used without a tweeter, depending on the taste of your friend.

If he wants to keep the E140 maybe he should replace the metal dustcap with a paper one, to avoid audible breaking modes in the high mid that would be detrimental for hifi use.

I bought a pair of TH4001 clones from the eBay vendor in Hong Kong. (There are a similar pair on eBay right now).

I can absolutely recommend them. They are correctly made, and very beautiful to boot. The adaptor for the driver is machined from solud aluminium, and fits very nicely.
I use mine with 2445 drivers (with 2450SL diaphragms), crossed at about 650 Hz and 8 kHz (to 2405's). They sound very nice.

IMO: Should be used with a tweeter. This sound better than trying to eq them flat to 20 kHz. I would imagine that this (in ever larger degree) also holds for the 2440 (although I have only tried mine with 2445's).

Seems TH4001 is a better choise:D
Do you have crossover drawing for TH4001?

The TAD4001 can be crossed lower (at about 650 Hz), so that would be my recommendation.

However: I have not tried the 2311 (H93) or any other of the horns you consider. I have tried the Selenium HL14-50 (with 2308 lens), the 2380 and the 2360 in addition to the TAD. Of those, the 2360 can be crossed the lowest, followed by the TAD.
