Hello and thank you for the site.
I’m searching for any information on my C34 speakers which I have had for many years.
I have two of these. One is a factory built, and the other is a kit or homemade.
I picked these up 30+ years ago when I owned a small town sound company. I used almost all JBL drivers, I could always get more bang for the watt. We pushed our horns with old MacIntosh tube amps. They sounded great, and could you still get them for $20-$50. I can’t remember everything, but I know we had a good time!
The kit or homemade C34 was stripped of components, belt sanded, painted flat black and converted to a bass bin with a different driver. Still have it, and I’ll probably keep it forever as it still comes in handy.
The factory C34 was too beautiful to disturb. I tested it, loved it, and promptly put it away in storage.
Now 30 years later, I would like to learn more about it. I’m either going to use it in my studio somehow, or put it up for adoption. It should be used and enjoyed. I don’t think it’s ever been opened up. It must have a D 130, and a one or two inch “honker” style horn with some sort of additional lens?
I found a pic of a C34 on the forum, but will have to get back here with a URL for it.
It’s safe to say the one I have is in better shape. Original brown grille cloth is still tight, wood is good. My logo is not pinned to the grille, but painted in gold on the top center face. This detail may help determine mfg. date?
Any insight would be very helpful to me.
Thank you,
Dan
