Hello ,
I need information about what enclosure sounds best with the 416 8B Altec Woofer . As far im considering these options .
* 825B Too big . WAF impossible .
* 816A smaller , i dont really understand the benefits of the woofer horn .
* 612C smaller , same as Iconic . Could be , unless 816A is superior .
Any other would be appreciated .
Please opinions .
Joaquín .

You might want to explore a box similar to the Altec Model 19 which I beleive used the 416 woofers; it is a large vented (ported) enclosure. Obviously, the correct tuned big box will allow the driver to go low and produce the best overall response.
I believe the 816 horn loaded box was not used with the 416s, but I could be wrong. Bass horns increase efficiency but were primarily for sound reinforcement not Hi-Fi.
Search here for specs on Model 19 boxes.

I have 416-8Bs in 620A boxes and they are outstanding as bass (not subs) speakers in my three way system.
