anybody has any experience with these speakers? how would 4301B compare to these?

Stop it. You have found nirvana. Why screw it up with questions, especially about powered (250w bi-amped 8-inch two-way with a PR6x12), highly filtered speakers...?

Mackie has absolutely stuffed those cabinets with gear. You will find the 4301B a more elegant solution, not requiring such filtering...

But maybe that wasn't your question. ;)

its my studio buddie that allways talk about these mackie. i dunno what it is. but told him iŽll fix u up with some jblŽs! well i did and he is absolutley amazed about them! just curious! they dont go for 150 bucks eather! so they are better than 4301B? if so..its hard to believe something the size of a 4301B can be better!

Well, I don't know if they are "better" but certainly simpler and very, very different.

The Mackie HR824 (http://www.mackie.com/products/hr824/index.html) are a very, VERY highly engineered set-up.

Bi-amped, 8.75in LF, 6x12 PR, active L-R -24dB xover (1800Hz), lots and lots of filters. Egads...

I guess, I would like to A/B them, and imagine we'd be pretty impressed with what a 30-year-old well engineered 2-way passive 8-in can do!

there are also a bunch of mackie hr 824 (copys) out there! dunno theyre name or anything but he was on the brink of buying a pair of em new for about $400. they were 8" active speakers. iŽll told him iŽll fix u up with some jblŽs. that cheap shit cant possibly sound like an old jbl monitor at half that price. now he tnx me!
