Non original dust cap

I have a pair of 416-8B woofers that have non original (non vented) dust caps. I have talked to a reconeing supply co. in Tucson, Az who said they vent fine through the spider and the non vented dust caps should not effect performance but would like to hear your opinions?

I don't know if you or I could hear the difference, but I think the re-coning supply service is guessing at best. Altec vented the theatre woofers in the front, and the Mi woofers in the rear......I presume they vented both on purpose.

I doubt that Altec would go through the trouble and cost to cut the dustcap to install the vent screen if it did not make a difference.

Just my opinion though!!!
