I've been using 2226's with Great Plains Audio 399's for some time. I recently acquired some very nice Apollo cabinets. The Apollo cabs have an internal volume of roughly 3.2 cubic feet so they should be a nice match for the 2226.

I have 500hz Edgarhorns and my crossover is at 1.6Khz.

I plan to elevate the Apollo's about 6 more inches to get the Edgarhorns at ear level and simultaneously get the 2226's further from the floor.

I really don't need any advice (though it is welcome) or feedback, I just wanted to share a few pics with you all. :blah:

Oh yes, many thanks to Ron (Speakerman) :applaud:who pushed, nagged and cajoled me this way from a Dual concentric world.

How many coats of tung-oil do you have on the Edgarhorns so far?

I like the way it looks. The Edgars seem quite at home on the JBL cabinets.

Gotta get me some of those Edgarhorns!

The Edgarhorns in this picture have only two coats of tung oil on them. I have applied a fifth coat to my pair.

I had the 2226's in 3677 cabinets. Those cabinets performed their sonic duties admirably but had very low WAF.

It's funny the guitar and x-0ver support stand both get a mention as they are usually put to use together for less sophisticated music making. Guitar positioning noted and moved.

The Apollo cab seems to mate with the 2226 really well. Bass/midbass is tight and clean and with this crossover the mating with the Edgar sounds very seamless. This setup doesn't have much to say at lower frequencies (begins rolling off at around 50hz) but aside from that it's got some real magic. Pinpoint soundstage with excellent dynamics that seems very effortless at any volume I care to listen.
