View Full Version : Box size/porting when using dual LF transducers

What considerations, if any, need to be given to determining box and port sizes when using dual low frequency transducers in an application where a signal transducer was originally used? I am in the process of making a center channel using two 115H-1's and need to determine if the box and port size should be different from the 4406's from which the transducers originally came. (Already searched and found a thread discussing electronic/xover considerations but couldn't find one where box/ports were addressed.) Also considering doing a "subwoofer" using dual 128H-1's and similar questions arise.

So the technical question is, when using box and port design programs, do any changes need to be made to the TS parameter inputs (double them, half them, exponentiate them, or what) in order to get the appropriate results?

Or if someone happens to know the answer to the size questions right off the top of their head that would even be better.

Hi,

Generally everything will double. Get yourself a copy of "winisd" and run the numbers for yourself. If you want the same performance from each driver, start by doubling the box volume and go from there.

Did just that. Thanks for the suggestion. Good tool.
