A year ago I subscribed to "Stereophile" mag, as it was cheap and maybe there was something to be learned .... utter gibberish ...that one aint getting renewed...:blah:

since then I've been receiving catalogs to MusicDirect, MapleShade and AudioAdvisor ....geeze , every product they sell is "THE BEST" ...they remind you of the old DAK catalogs...every product will "lift the veil" from over your speakers !!! :barf:maple under everything improves it !!

I started looking around and found this page written by someone with similar thots abot it all http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/1000/cheaptweaks.htm

he recommends ....American Science & Surplus http://www.sciplus.com
( yeah , I know some of you will get all a twitter and make ASS jokes)

but if you read Bruce Kinch's site and then ASS's site...there may sure be lots of alternatives to expensive audio snakeoil..:bouncy: ..
the wheels are a turnin'

DON'T GET ME WRONG:
some of the catalogs can be of value ...the one from www.musicdirect.com is abt 200 glossy pages,
the 2nd half is great CD/SACD/LP listings with some background...prices OK

All those retailing audio snake-oil must have beaten you to the ASS site, since none of the products mentioned in the article can be found in the catalog today. Granted it has been twelve years since the article.

"American Science & Surplus sends out a new catalog each month, and most of the items rotate and re-appear. Many of the above were in #92, but #93 had mostly rubber animals, tools, and lab stuff. You never know what will show up."
