I received an early Xmas present from Australia yesterday....some Organoil
http://www.organoil.com.au/waxpolish/index.html
this is the stuff my Sydney friend uses, he is a master woodworker and swears by this product....he builds furniture, speaker cabs and most everything else and does beautiful work , and I trust his word.. its a beeswax with citrus cleaner.
I'm testing on the L88's,,,so far so good...the steelwool with cleaner sure gets a lot of gunk out of the woods pores..
here were his directions:
"Now ignore the instructions, get the smoothest "steel Wool" (think you guys call it pot scrubber / Chux ) old pot saucepan / scrubber / use small amount bees wax, rub it in grain direction till timber smooth, with as much pressure as your fingers or palm can apply (evenly over surface) allow to dry for abt 15 mins (in your climate 30mins) then wipe it off in real buffing action, rubbing off / buffing initially across the grain or circular motion then final buff with th egrain............... Now you cant free base this stuff or smoke it... its only bees wax with citrus as cleaner. Tthe steel wool used like this is like 400 - 600 grit sandpaper)
As said before this company was Byron Bay based but have gone bust in the last 3 months, i intend to buy what is on shelves in the stores (they were monopolised by Hardware chain called Bunnings (same as Sears) hen told to half their supply cost rate..their are other suppliers,..but its only wax,,, harder to apply...... Citrus is a good cleaner...
Enjoy..... more on its way.. when i can find it..... once you have used this for a couple of times and your happy with the finish....their is Bees Wax Oil....liquid/ (smells just as good)........... simply rub it on with a rag, let dry for a short time, then buff rigously.... i'll send you some when i find it.
Enjoy...... let me know how the big JBL come up with this.... after abt 6 mths use the veneer glows.. all dryness goes..... sounds like anti-wrinkle cream..".
