Forummers,

l was wondering who was running external Super Tweeters such as the Townshend Maximum Ribbon Super Tweeters? (http://www.highendcable.co.uk/Townshend%20Maximum%20Super%20Tweeter.htm) l am considering the use of a ST like these in place of using TAD ET-703's. The main advantages l see are the built in crossovers and adjustability, getting good integration should be easy. However to get best results l guess it would still be necesary to roll of the TAD 4001's? The Townshends are tiny so would be easy to mount to as they weigh very little.

Interested to hear of any users of these or other external ST's.

Cheers,
Mondie

The main advantages l see are the built in crossovers and adjustability, getting good integration should be easy.I doubt that a built in network is really much of a plus. One size fits all, rarely does.

However to get best results l guess it would still be necesary to roll of the TAD 4001's?If you don't, you might as well not use the tweeter in the first place. With a little passive or active EQ, the TAD drivers will certainly cover the range needed... one of the main reasons for adding a tweeter is to eliminate the break up mode distortion that you will hear at the top of audio band with almost any large compression driver.
