Hi!

Does anyone have an opinion on class D amplification?

I was looking for a subwoofer amp and found this:
http://www.hypex.nl/

Anyone know if there are any drawbacks there?
What is a reasonable price on these constructions if they include crossovers?

Are they some sort of budget vesions of a digital amplifier like the Danish TacT?

Hi,
D ... D as DD Bridgewater?

Well I doubt a class D amplifier can sound great ....

A, AB will do fine ...

If you are looking for a good amplifier, ask our Swedish distributor to lend you a PSS amplifier, your feedback will be welcome!

Yuri:

I have my system up and running:

4 2245H´s powered by a Crown K2

JBL M552 Xover at 250-300Hz

2 2202H´s JBL 3107 passive xover.
2 2445J´s one side powered by a Sony N77ES, the other by
2 2405H´s a Sony N80ES, both bridged mono.

It sounds great.

I am still waiting after all this months for Your amp to compare, is Your offer good?

Alex.

Hi!

Thank you very much for your kind offer, I really appreciate it.
Simply looking at the amps and the specs, made me drool and also totally convinced they are great amps.
However, the line of work I'm in (at a psychiatric hospital), doesn't pay me that kind of money. I'm simply trying to keep my passion alive on a shoestring budget and my guess is that any PSS amp would be out of my reach, I'm afraid.

Taking one home just to play with, would probably only force me to rob a bank or something. :p Knowing my self, I would probably have a very hard time parting from it, creating all kinds of anxieties and who knows, maybe I would even become a patient in the process... ;)

So, thanks again though, but I'd probably be better off taking a cold shower now. :banghead:

Hello,

I do not know the retail price in Sweden of PSS amplifiers but I do not think that they are that much expensive!

Ring ALLBA and just ask them about pricing.

As I will meet them by the end of this week at Prolight+Sond fair in Frankfurt (Hall 8.0 booth G12) I will ask for the pricing, but I think that PSS amplifiers are less expensive than the local Swedish amplifier manufacturer, LAB GRUPEN...

Alex,

We shipped some PSS2400 amplifiers to Mexico last week, ring Eduardo and ask him if he can lend you one or manage something ...

Anyway, has anybody yet had a chance to test one of these amps? Sure would be a useful datapoint...

Actually I've been in love with JBL pro gear, much longer.
Now it's been more than 30 years since I built my first JBL speakers.
I've been at the "nutty house" less than 10 years, which shows you, that you don't have to be crazy to love JBL stuff! :D

A while back I had the opportynity to listen to a TacT Millenium hooked up on a pair of large B&W. VERY IMPRESSIVE the Millenium.
Theres obviously a lot of potential with digital amplifiers, both on sound and price reduction.
