Hello Everybody!
I was wondering if any of you have personal experience with these two models and what your thoughts are regarding them. I have been intruigued by the L65's for a while now and we all know what they typically fetch (especially their tweeters). What are the major differences in sound from these two models.

Thank you!

Fred :)

The L65s have more of the West Coast sound JBLs were known for. I've owned both. The L65s have kind of a forward or ezagerated tweeter. I like the sound. The 4313bs are considerably more accurate. The tweeter and the woofer are not as exagerated but are true to the recording......they don't add anything to it. For financial reasons I'd rather be given a pair of L65s in nice shape. I could sell them, buy a pair of 4313Bs and have some cash left over!

Thank you Audiobeer! that was very helpful, exactly what I was looking for. I remember you mentioning the L65's to me a while back. Your description of the two different sounds characteristics make a lot of sense to me. While I understan that the 4313B's are more accurate I can see myself liking the L65 sound as well :)

What you said also explains something that I came across recently. I was A/B the 4313b's with the L166's and they sounded very close but thought the highs on the L166's were a bit brighter/forward sounding and had a little bit more bass than the 43's. I think this goes back to what you say about the 43's being accurate while the 166's may be adding some sort of "coloration" to the sound. I like them both though.
Do you still have your 166's?

Thanks again!

I still have the L166s that I use in my home theater and I have a boatload of 43134Bs. I'm partial to the 4313Bs. If I was to be near a set of speakers all day long it would be the 4313Bs. I'm going to try a crown amp passing through a 2270 Marantz for grins to see if the L166 sound on the 2270 alone can improve. I just have to find the gentleman here on the boards that made me a pair of cables for the last 2270 and JBL 300 watt amp I had.

Edited this message to let you know it was Mike Caldwell that made the last cable.

Its a crown 810. The cables are 1/4" to RCAs abou 8' long. The plan is to have a 2270 retro fitted into the wall. in my pool room in the basement. On the other side the cables will be going to the amp. I did it once before and it's funny to watch the expression on my peoples faces when they go to turn up a tune they like. :D

You're a funny guy! Sounds like a very cool pool room. They dont make cambles like that? Can you post a picture when you get them, I have that crown ps 400 with the same deal, i use adapters that were suggested by fellow forum members, they work very well.

These are the ones I got, were suggest to me by Heather.
