I opened one of my 4333A cabinets the other day to take a look at internals and cabeling. due to the possibility to run these speakers active/passive there is a huge amount of cables welded to the connectors and on the switch that offers choosing between passive and active. lots of cables going back and forth to the 3133A dividing network.

in my environment the speakers are passive driven by a mcintosh 2275 tubeamp and this will stay like that. so I was thinking about building in on the back of the speakers an extra pair of WBT pole terminals near to the original terminal to bypass the internal cablemess with a direct connection to the dividing network. I am wondering about the possible sound improvement by simplifying the internal cabeling. most of modern speaker cables you find today use banana or spades which don't fit the old JBL speaker terminals. thats also why I am considering doing this.

see link to the wbt pole terminal

anyone here who has tried to improve the cabeling or connecting situation in those 30 year old speakers?
