Will offer these cabinets up to anyone before they go into the dumpster.

Let me know if you want them.

No grilles, just the cabinet.

Decent shape, not the best.

Thanks.

How dare you say such a thing. Throw Altecs to the dumpster. You should be suspended from the forum for even thinking about it!!!!:D

They are just the cabinets. I sold the speakers, tweeters, and the grilles.

I did not part out right away.

I put them on as the whole kit and kaboodle and the guy just wanted the woofers.

So, I sold the tweeters and the grilles.

Just being nice and offering them to someone before I pitch them.

That is a better deed than just pitching them...

;)

- That's certainly a generous offer for some nicely sized "project cabinets".

- Here are some pics from Storms' eBay auction .

- For those unawares ; the interior volume of these will work out to be @ 3.5 cu'.
- It looks like the front baffle board is removable/replaceable.

- All in all, it adds up to a great opportunity for someone ( a bit carpentry challenged ) who wants to buildup a 2- way design utilyzing the le14 woofer along with a smaller horn .

- Hopefully some DIYer will save these before they see the bottom of a dumpster .

Can you bring them to Prescott along with your 846B's?

If so, I will take them. I need another project.

If not, I won't take them. I don't need another project.

Sure.

They do not have the front baffle boards. The purchaser of the woofers wanted those.

If you still want them, I will load them into the van for you.

Jack,
Make sure we have plenty of beer so that way the evaluation is not colored at all. (Michelob Ultra Amber)

I need another project.3.5 cuft.? Whoa, BABY!

Zilch has some killer ideas for ya, Jack, and they've already been prototyped and tested at ZilchLab. Heh.

[That'll be another thread, tho.... ]

Hi Zilch,

They better be good ideas, cause I have some Trusonic stuff in mind for these. I am flexible though, so let me know when that thread starts.

What in hell am I going to do with another pair of speakers??????

Jack Gifford ;)

PS: There is enough Bubinga veneer in my shop to reveneer those guys. They could look pretty sharp, no? Maybe when I get my Behringer DEQ-2496, I can call my shop the JackLab.

Sure, as long as they are not warped from the moisture, it will be a big savings in time cutting a new pair. I already have a few yards of JBL blue grille cloth, so if Zilch convinces me to fill them with JBL stuff, that will determine the grille color right there.

Let me know how much you want for them, including freight.

Thanks, Jack Gifford

Free Dollars plus shipping, let me look at them tonight and judge the condition, If you want to replace that splintered edge I may have one of those pieces of walnut as well.

Thanks ever so much, Harry.

I paid you for the freight yesterday via Paypal.

May be some time, but I will post pix when the project comes to fruition.
