I have owned Cary 805C's. These amps sound extremely nice and look cool. I used them with Belle Klipsch's. Great for piano and chamber music. These amps are not well suited for rock music.

I operate a Cary Rescue for those who buy Cary and do not feel they are compatible. I will find a home where they are loved!:D

Funny you should ask, just this weekend sat down and did some serious listening and these amps were really good.

Well I am not too crazy about the little Sunfires... they do produce phenomenally low bass from a small box, but they don't sound quite right to me.

Those Cary amps though:) Now they sound great.

Dennis, what did you find lacking in them? Was it control in the bass, maximum SPL. something else?

Hi Guys I was thinking of bi-amping and useing the cary for the top end and bryston for the bottom. I think that will work for high volume rock.???:rockon1:

The Cary 805C amplifiers continue to be one of my all time favorites. Their clarity ,detail and imaging are as about as good as it gets. These amps are works of electronic art. With speakers such as the Belle Klipschs they were awsome. But I listen mostly to Rock blues and electronic music with some significant bottom end , hence the JBLs'. I still own the 805s' and use them with Sonus Fabers in the living room. My JBLs are in the AV room driven by big Macs'. The best of both worlds. Interesting note; everyone visiting my home prefers the McIntosh JBL setup over the audiophile Cary and Sonus Faber. I enjoy them both, but for different reasons. Regards, Dennis

Hi Rick, I have a pair of home brewed 4344 clones driven by a pair of McIntosh MC1201 monoblocs for the fronts. The rears are L250Ti s' with the new McIntosh MC501s' to amplify them. The center is a JBL Synthesis as well as the sub. The best part of it all is that the room is isolated and sound proof so my kids, wife and neighboors never tell me to turn it down. The new Eric Clapton DVD is superb at live levels. Regards, Dennis

Dennis:

By the way "WOW"!!!, yes, those are big MAC's, in fact those are THE big Mac's.:D

How do the 1201's sound with the 4344's. I've been wanting to try with my 4430's, didn't know if the 1201's would TOO much and maybe just go with 602

I agree, JBL and MAC are made for each other.
