:p

Does anyone know where to get the re-foam for the Altec Model Nine woofers?

I just picked up a pair at GW for $25.00, but both foam surrounds are shot.

Thank you.

There is NOW a specific foam surround for the Altec 12" woofers such as in the Model 9. I can get 'em, 'cause I FOUND where to order them!

However, you can also use the surround made for the McIntosh 12" woofers from the ML1/ML2/ML4 series speakers... the so-called "McIntosh 12 surround". It'll work fine. I also have those!!

I've compared the Altec Model 9 foam to the McIntosh foam, and they are virtually identical... as in, you could cross-substitute them, and NO ONE would be able to tell the difference, realistically. But, there are very subtle differences in the size and shape of the roll (the Altec roll is just a tad narrower than the Mc roll, and the Altec has a slightly larger flange, IIRC)...

Regards,
Gordon.
