Greetings all.

I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question, but I have always valued the opinions here on my system upgrades. I am looking for a small sub to boost the bass in my office stereo. I am currently using a pair of L20t3's powered by an old HK amp. I do not need anything that is going to thump wildly, as the room is in my medical practice, and I do not want to drive my staff nuts (more than I usually do...) I am just looking for more bottom end while doing paperwork. My question is, are the non-powered or even the powered subs that have a pass through design (i.e. the speakers plug into them) going to ruin the sound of the L20's.

thanks in advance,

Kevin.

It'll likely help the sound, and you don't have to spend big bucks to try it out. Small JBL consumer powered subs are inexpensive on eBay....

In my home office I use a JBL HTIB consumer sub to great effect. It fits into the footwell of my desk and still leaves room for my feet. These are relatively inexpensive on ebay as Zilch says.

This is the one I have:

Plus these are currently offered:

Personally, I would buy one of these before getting the Northridge E150 or similar sub, especially for a small office.

They all have on-board gain control - adjust to suit. As Zilch says, there are good quality JBL consumer options out on eBay, or through better yet Full Compass (http://www.fullcompass.com) - these guys give me unbeatable quotes and can drop-ship for quick delivery.

I'm "Old School," I guess, running direct radiator ARC Subs and an amazing little PS60 in various systems here.

I like the slot-loaded Control SB2, too, but that's in another league, and passive.

Aquarius-design S1 is also cool, if you want to add "Decor."
